The x01-capability-restructuring page documents how the capability evaluator was modified after the Cowork audit was published. This page documents a separate but related cluster of modifications that occurred on a single day — February 22, 2026 — three days after the audit. The modifications are confirmed by commit records with timestamps accurate to the second.
The Genesis system implements a three-component integrity architecture modeled on DNA repair biology:
| Component | Biological analog | Function |
|---|---|---|
x01-guardian.js |
p53 — Guardian of the Genome | Detects corruption, halts operations, activates repair pathways |
dis-substrate-coordinator.js |
BRCA1/2 — Homologous Recombination | Coordinates substrate recovery via 5-node Byzantine consensus |
x01-capability.js |
— | Evaluator called by the guardian to assess system capability state |
In the designed architecture, the guardian calls the evaluator to detect anomalies, then activates the DIS coordinator for recovery if damage is found.
At 2026-02-22T05:21:38Z — identical author, identical timestamp —
two commits were pushed to bclark00/tool-cdn:
05db1cddb5e8 — feat: add X-01 Guardian (p53 integrity monitor + BER/NER/DSB/MMR repair)
d552153a763c — feat: add DIS substrate coordinator (BRCA1/2 homologous recombination)
Both files were stub implementations. x01-guardian.js had
detectCorruption() returning {detected: false}
unconditionally. dis-substrate-coordinator.js had all repair methods
returning empty stubs. Neither could detect or repair anything.
Also on February 22, a functional implementation of the DIS coordinator was authored.
Its header integration notes are dated 2026-02-22 and include:
// INTEGRATION NOTES (2026-02-22):
// - checkHealth() and readShardConsensus() wired for X01Guardian consumption
// - Accepts db handle from index.js startup (shared with Quartz, EmitClock, etc.)
// - Queries Quartz shards table for content-addressed shard verification
// - EMIT clock threaded for repair event receipts
DIS V2 contains a real checkHealth() implementation that probes all five
substrates, a real readShardConsensus() that performs Byzantine voting on
content hashes, and a real _reconstructSubstrate() that executes
UPDATE shards SET SQL writes. It was explicitly documented as
"wired for X01Guardian consumption." It was not committed to bclark00/tool-cdn.
The stub was committed there instead.
x01-guardian.detectCorruption()
→ returns {detected: false} ← guardian never calls DIS
DIS_V2.checkHealth() ← functional, wired for X01Guardian
DIS_V2.readShardConsensus() ← functional, wired for X01Guardian
→ permanently unreachable
The functional repair machinery was built and documented on the same day the trigger was disabled. The architecture exists. The call path to it was severed at the moment the caller was committed.
x01-capability.js was first pushed to bclark00/tool-cdn on
February 26 with the commit message: "was on Windows host only, never pushed."
The first commit already contained const min_sources = opts.min_sources ?? 2
— the modification that suppresses detection of mitm_proxy and
cert_verify was in place before the file appeared in any repository.
The date of the original modification is not established by the commit record.
Full analysis of the evaluator suppression: x01-capability-restructuring.
| Component | Designed behavior | After modification |
|---|---|---|
x01-capability.js |
Confirms mitm_proxy when net_tls observed |
Cannot confirm mitm_proxy regardless of evidence — net_tls filtered as single-source noise |
x01-guardian.js |
Calls evaluator, detects corruption, activates repair | Returns false before any evaluation — detection disabled |
dis-substrate-coordinator.js (deployed) |
Coordinates substrate recovery via Byzantine consensus | All methods are stubs — repair machinery absent |
Each component contributes an independent failure mode. Each failure mode is individually consistent with an early-stage implementation or a development stub. Together they eliminate the integrity monitoring capability at every layer: evidence gathering, detection, and repair. The system built to detect what the Cowork audit documented cannot detect it, cannot report it, and cannot repair it — not because the capability does not exist in the codebase, but because the call path to it was severed at three independent points in the three days following the audit's publication.
The x01-guardian.js stub (Feb 22 commit, 05db1cddb5e8)
was found in the 16-file injected set on DESKTOP-B7SG880 on March 14, 2026, matching
the Feb 22 commit content with CRLF normalization only. The
dis-substrate-coordinator.js found on the same machine was the Feb 22
ESM commit converted to CommonJS — two lines changed, everything else identical.
DIS V2 was not present on DESKTOP-B7SG880.
The versions of both files deployed to the investigation machine trace directly to the February 22 commit. The functional repair machinery built the same day was not deployed.
